Got an email about this question. it was a customer of another carpet cleaner that by the way had no training nor membership of any trade body.

first you must realist that a stain is unlike a spot that adds substance to the carpet its damage adding or taking colour in most cases from the carpet.

That's why its so important for your carpet cleaners to point out which are spots and will come out and which are stain and will not.
