any chemical that undergoes dissociation in water with the formation of hydrgen ions. acid will turn litmus paper red and has a ph values less than 7

a synthetic, thermoplastic fiber that is used primarily in upholstery fabrics. like wool it has good bulking and insulating properties. it will normally be backed with latex. it performs well and even resists damage from oxidizing bleaches and diluted alkali's and acids trade names, acrilan, creslan, orlon and zefran

any soluble chemical substance that forms soluble soap when mixed with fatty acids. alkali's also are referred to as bases. and they can cause severe skin burns. they turn litmus paper blue and have a pH value above 7
